A Summer of Prayer

As we approach our one year anniversary of launching Pioneer Grove, we are taking the summer of 2026 to be a summer of prayer. Our desire is to lean into and further explore our core value of being devoted to prayer. This page is designed to provide you with a starting point for entering this summer prayerfully.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

On Sunday mornings over the summer, we’ll be walking through the Psalms of Ascent (120-134). This subset of the Psalms were sung by the people of Israel as they ascended to the temple in Jerusalem for feasts throughout the year. They are songs of worship, of preparation, of encouragement, and much more. They are meant to convey the pilgrimage of God’s people.

Even though we don’t ascend to the temple in Jerusalem to worship, followers of Jesus are on a spiritual pilgrimage. Not just an aimless journey, but a heading in a direction by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As we walk through these Psalms, we will be drawn toward a great worship of God and awareness of the way he is actively shaping our lives.
